Wheatfield House, built 1878
The inspiration for the name 'Lake House Gallery' comes from our district's first farming family home, built in 1878 on the shores of Lake Dumbleyung. The house was named 'Wheatfields' and still stands today.
Let your light shine...
Our founder, Natalie van Veen, felt it a shame that no permanent place existed in our township for locals to display their arts and craft. Nat obtained approval from the Dumbleyung Shire Council to lease a vacant commercial unit fronting the main street.
After painting, decorating and rallying our wonderfully talented (but extremely modest) local artists and craftspeople, the Lake House Gallery was formerly established in August 2011. The Gallery's decor is inspired by New York style using dramatic black, white and a pop of yellow.
Nat is a community minded individual who feels that enabling the development of a gallery is a worthy contribution to the town. Nat loves interior design and decorating and is inspired by the English Photographer Jon Wyatt. Jon mobilises his incredible talent to share amazing beauty in places that the majority of us would never get to experience in a life time. Nat's hobbies are photography and up-cycling vintage furniture, especially armchairs.
Nat's challenge to local artists and craftspeople is to... 'let your light shine for all the world to see!'
